Painting in the Margins: Displacement and the Refugee Experience

Artist and human rights activist Thaer Abdallah will speak about his experiences as a part of the Palestinian minority in Iraq, and as a refugee in Syria, his torture and return to Iraq, and his flight to the United States. He will also share his paintings of the Palestinian community in Baghdad and refugees across the world. His paintings of U.S. subjects reflect awareness of those on the margins of society.
